Daddy's little girls.
First, A Quick Story…
I remember being at a crowded restaurant with my parents when I was 16. It was my mom’s birthday and the place was loud and the wait for a table was ridiculous.
I looked inside the restaurant and saw one particular table that caught my attention.
It was a party of 5 women - a (hot-looking) mom and her 4 beautiful daughters - yapping away, drinking wine, laughing and having a great time.
Off in the corner of the table, I see what appears to be smoke arising from one of the daughter’s heads (this was, obviously, back when smoking was still allowed in restaurants…I think I just dated myself).
Curious, I kind of shimmy my way through the waiting hoard of people to get a better look.
Off in the corner, hunched over in a chair, as his shaky hand slowly brings the cigarette to his mouth for another puff, I see a balding, somewhat-overweight, defeated looking man.
This obviously was “Papa” and boy, did he look like he had endured years of mental trauma. He looked, quite frankly, DEFEATED.
Being the cocky teenager that I was, I backhanded my bother in the chest and I said,
“Look at that chump in the corner. Poor guy. His daughters probably just wore him out!”
My brother and I both share a bit of a laugh and then we get escorted to our table.
“Karma’s a bitch.”
My name is Chris Lopez.
To protect my identity, I go by the alias, the FitAndBusyDad.
I’ve been a dad for 11 years and I have 4 daughters: AJ - 11, Joey - 6, Frankie - 4, Mikey - 2…
…Yes, they all have “boy” nicknames, but very feminine “real” names (Angelica, Josefina, Francesca & Mikaela).
My wife, Rozanne, and I live in Toronto, Canada where she writes and does some creative stuff (and stays home and takes care of all of us).
I run a personal training business and a BLOG that helps busy dads get (and stay) in shape.
I try to stay active and exercise consistently. Not for vanity reasons (at least not anymore), but because I think it’s important for my kids to witness their parents being active (so that they can take that trait and carry it forward to their adulthood…hopefully).
I also try to teach my kids the value of living a simple and healthy lifestyle.
Rozanne and I do this by really appreciating the little things in life that matter - family movie nights, bi-weekly trips to the local farmer’s market and a full audience of supporters for our kids’ ballet recitals, soccer games or parole hearings (I’m obviously kidding about the last one!)
Oh yeah, my wife is due with our 5th child in November.
We recently found out that it’s a…
