Exercise Simplicity - Kettlebell Workouts
As you saw in the previous post, I’m doing a complete lifestyle purge.
The truth is, I have too much stuff, and not enough time.
There are certain things - values - that I hold true to, and in my decision making process on what to get rid of, I look to these values for answers.
Rozanne and I recently came up with our family Mission Statement -
Live simply. Live healthy. Celebrate relationships. Value the Present. Learn Continuously.
This pretty much sums my value system up (with honesty, responsibility and integrity being obvious values that I’m sure everyone has).
That said, when it comes to living healthy, eating REAL FOOD and getting my workouts in are the most important things to me.
The only problem was that with Baby #5 on the way, trying to run 2 businesses and coach 2 teams, even driving or riding my bike to the gym was using up valuable time.
So even though FitAndBusyDad workouts are short in duration, but high in effectiveness, they still at times required some extra “gym” equipment or something that you wouldn’t normally have at home.
In an effort to living a simpler and more meaningful life, I quit the gym and took up kettlebell training on a full time basis.
Kettlebells originated in Russia and were the training tool of choice for the military & martial artists. They’ve just recently become a little more popular in the mainstream and look like a canon ball with a handle on it.
Turning to KBs was the BEST training decision I have ever made for myself.
There are 3 Main Reasons for this…
1. I have more time to myself and thus to my family and to focus on the things that matter most. Being a gym rat for most of my life, I noticed that my workouts, after the drive and changing and warming up and working out and showering and changing and driving home was taking up in excess of an hour of my time. A kettlebell workout takes me 20-30 minutes TOPS - from warm-up to completion.
2. I am getting LITERALLY the best results that I have ever gotten since I started training. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a lot less stressed out about the results that I want to achieve or if it’s because I’ve been training for a while now that it’s easier for my body to make gains. But KB training has helped me lose fat and gain muscle better than any other type of training that I was doing in the past - and that includes my competitive days when I was doing 2-a-day practices and hitting the weight room.
3. I got approached by my friend and Fat Loss Guru, Craig Ballantyne of Turbulence Training, to take my kettlbell workouts and share them with the masses. For the past few months I’ve been working diligently to transfer my exercise expertise and experience into a Fat Loss product that everyone can use. As it turns out, there are a lot more people out there like me - who are sick of the gym and searching for a simpler alternative.

I just listened to the interview with Craig Ballantyne that I downloaded by signing up for your mailing list… great stuff (once I got past the “technical difficulties”). You shared some great background into KB training, core training, and fitness in general that were really interesting. Thanks!
Thanks, Scott. Thanks for always coming back and for being a great supporter!
I purchased this yesterday and have to say it is awesome! I cannot wait to start using the programs from them!
I’ve been a KB fan, but never really had a set routine to follow, and this gives me plenty of routines to follow and shed fat.
Great product Chris!
Congrats on getting this going Chris. Enjoy it.

Can I steal and adopt your families mission statement? Live simply. Live healthy. Celebrate relationships. Value the Present. Learn Continuously.
Deb
I haven’t got it yet but am looking forward to getting it. I think it’s exactly what I need.
I have to second Deb there , I need to steal you families mission statement too , to be honest I have have already copied and pasted into an e-mail to my wife this morning. I also like your comment ” I have too much stuff and not enough time” that’s me down to a tee.
Well done on the program , looking forward to getting started with it in the next few weeks.
Dermot.
Your mission statement is something I’ve been trying to apply in my life. Live a simple/minimalist life, focus on the things that really matter (my family, my friends, my health) and enjoying the process not the results. And always trying to give my best in everything I do.
I really would like to try your KT workouts but the problem is that I live in Portugal and here I cannot find a shop where I can by a KT. What do you advice me to do? Do it whit a DB? Buy in the internet?
Thank you for your help and congratulations for your good work!
Joana
Good stuff there Chris,
am about to move flat/apartments in the next month so will hold off investing in you new project, but once I know my set-up am guessing it will be an option.
Lifestyle purges , rethinks are always good - “change” is the only constant in life - know your core self & make changes which enhance that eh ?
That said the key to a great life is simplicity
What weight kettlebells do you train with Chris?
Hi Elliot,
I started by using a 16kg. Now I have a pair each of 16kg & 24kgs and a 32kg that I do swings, rows & snatches with.
