Since I need to be careful about losing too much more weight or any weight for that matter, when you practice "IF", would the time that you do spend eating after fasting be spent eating as many calories as you would normally if you were not fasting, or is that pretty much impossible since you have a small window to eat. Am I making sense? Thanks so much!!!

Hi Mary

Great question ... I disagree that "IF" wouldn't have any benefits to someone who only has a little fat to lose. I think if you're practicing IF and you're trying to lose the last little bit, then responsible eating would have to be your primary concern.

So, in saying that, you'd really need to be conscious that you're consuming whole, natural, REAL food and limiting (or eliminating) your sugar, processed food and starchy carbohydrate intake.

Losing that last little bit of fat is still a Calories In vs. Calories Out equation, but if you're practicing IF and focusing on the best quality food in addition to training with weights, then I'm POSITIVE the last little bit of fat will come off.

Aside from the fat loss benefits, you can't deny the hormonal benefits of IF particularly that of Human Growth Hormone. That's one of the main reasons why I practice Intermittent Fasting.

Reading the information on intermittant fasting, there is discussion about how it helps people lose weight. However, if one just has a little body fat to lose and doesn't need to necessarily lose weight, I'm guessing the intermittant fasting wouldn't have any benefits.

Seriously this post is a great writing with applicative and points r easy to try!
You're so right bout IF.I'm a muslim, and we have a month of fasting in each year as ritual.unless u do it wrong,u'll come as a great controlable person after a month of consistent&healty fasting.like a master yoga or a big guru:its so great when u find yourself easy to control by yourself.
If u wanna loose weight,I recomend to mix your fasting with 'walk everywhere' lifestyle.u'll get a re-new fit and healty body! n_n

Our body synthesizes enzymes that hydrolyze food molecules, so you're wrong. Food does contain enzymes that break/ripen the food, such as fruits. Thus, food spoilage is common.

Great article Chris. Agree with all 4 points, especially the intermittent fasting. I've been practicing it once or twice a week and it's sure changed my relationship with food. I also try to get at least 2 mega salads in daily packed with as many veggies available in the fridge.
