I'm with you on the summertime running workouts. I just can't get motivated to run on a treadmill, even if its cold outside, much less when its warm and and the weather's nice.

If you can do one thing, getting up with the sun every day would be the one ... of course come winter you might need to get up a bit earlier & need that alarm clock....

down under the mornings are slowly getting lighter earlier so the alarm can be switched off again soon

I agree completely about getting outside, even when it's hot and otherwise seemingly unbearable. Last night it was still 90 degrees at 9:00 and it usually around 100 before noon. Long workouts are done before 7:30 but its fun to go for a 30 minute run that ends at the pool when its 105.

The flipside is getting to do this year round since winter highs usually don't fall below 65.

Hey Chris!

thanks for stopping by. Didn't really think about using Salsa as a dip that way. I'll have to try it tomorrow.

I just finished a scoop of chocolate almond ice cream and am going for a walk now. Tea sounds like a good idea to finish the night off.

Amazing post, the post dinner strolls are great. Getting up on your feet really helps relax and aid digestion I try to go for a walk within 20 minutes of finishing dinner then return home wind down and have a nice mug of herbal tea.
As for more fruits and vegetables I rarely go a day without a bowl of berries, they are soo good in the summer! Plus using cucumber and carrots to dip in hummus and salsa is a great summer snack....

Great point, Elizabeth. It is a good community builder.

I agree about an AC gym. But for me, there's just something about being outside (humid or not) that livens me up. I just seem to be in my element!

Hi,

This is a great article. Was in NYC for about a week and walked after dinner every night. Think I am going to make it a habit. I know I'll run into neighbors as I walk s it's a good comunity bulder too. Usually I sit in front of the TV after supper! Did want to say something about the gym. I live in NC and July and August can be very hot and humid. I get up early but some days it's hot and definitely humid at 6:00 AM so I love the gym in the summer. The AC makes working out bearable.

Hi Leandra

It's just a leisurely stroll. Just something to get us out of the house and to spend more family together.
